The motive is not unusual in Hugo Larsen's oeuvre. But the painting technique deviates from his preferred impressionistic rendering. Particularly in the rendering of the sky he seems to have been inspired by contemporary symbolists and expressionists. Another unusual feature is that he signs with his written signature instead of the normal robust capital letters.
