Hugo Larsen: Southern English Landscape, 1914, oil on canvas, 37 x 52 cm. Photo: Bruun Rasmussen (www.bruun-rasmussen.dk).
Although this painting is not marked with any geographical origin, it must by circumstantial evidence be from Southern England, perhaps with a small probability from Ireland. The canvas is from a London based company which is unusual in Hugo Larsen's production and thus a strong indication that it has been purchased in England. It is known that Hugo Larsen toured Southern England in 1914 (with a brief visit to Ireland) and did not return to Denmark until shortly before Christmas.
Should anyone recognize the motive, I would be grateful to be informed.
